Can we use either Cribl HTTP or TCP for edge to stream routing? Are there any pros and cons to using one over the other?

You can use either. Generally speaking:
  • Same leader, proxy/firewall friendly, external LB → Cribl HTTP.
  • No external LB, bursty/high-backpressure path, or troubleshooting overloaded receivers → Cribl TCP is often the safer operational choice.
