We have 10 workers, do we normally put a load balancer in front of the workers, or the data is being routed straight to the workers?

correct. It has to be. We don't provide one and you'll need one that has the visibility to know there are multiple worker nodes available to send data to.

You'll need a LB in front of them for proper distribution among the nodes in the group.
