We have a Cribl environment with one leader and ten workers which was designed to ingest 5 TBs of data, but unfortunately, our system is being sunsetted, and at the moment, we are ingesting 340 GBs a day. Management is pushing me to remove Cribl altogether, but I'm thinking that the best way would be to move to the free license of 1 TB with no time constraint. Is there a way to keep the architecture as is, with these 11 VMs, while switching the workers one by one, to the free license. If I manage to move one worker, the pressure will be off my back .

Run cribl mode-single on the command line

Free Tier gets you 10 worker processes total, which should be more than enough for 340 GB per day. Just remove the license from the leader, restart and decide which worker(s) you want to keep

Thank you, Jon! How many workers would it be possible to keep? and would it be possible to keep the environment distributed and managed by one leader?

Is it possible for you to give me the steps to remove one worker, and make it run with the free license?

IIRC, you can't run distributed without a license (single AIO instance only), so keeping it distributed and managed is unlikely. I think what Jon is saying select which instance you want to utilize and pare down to that system

you can use a leader/worker, but you only get 1 WG and 10 processes total

Thank you for the information, @user, @user. We have four worker groups, is it possible to configure a worker on its own instead of utilizing a worker group at all?

A worker node can be installed without a leader

Thank you! How can I just change one worker to the free license?
