Symptom

In Cribl Stream 4.20.1-590ec085, filtering a destination list does not consistently find destinations by a partial value in the destination ID. For example, pars can match a destination whose ID contains mimir--pars--prod, while shorter or different partial values might not match.

Environment

  • Cribl Stream 4.20.1-590ec085
  • Destination lists, including Prometheus destinations

Resolution

  1. Navigate to Worker Groups > Data > Destinations.
  2. Enter a search value in the destination-list search box.
  3. Search the full destination ID when you need to locate a destination by its ID.
  4. Search the full configuration when you need to find a destination by a configuration property.
  5. Use an exact configuration-property expression such as "httpStatus":429 when searching for a destination with that configured value.

Cause

This can be caused by the destination filter searching the full destination configuration rather than only the destination ID. Partial searches within an ID can therefore produce unexpected results when the entered text does not match the full configuration as expected.

Additional Information

The destination filter can identify configuration properties across the full destination configuration. For example, "id":"mimir--pars--prod" searches for the full destination ID value rather than a partial value from the middle of the ID.
